Associate Prof. Dr Michael Cristea has from a very early age held a deep love for rhino and more recently has become involved in finding ways to help conserve the species. His medical, economic background, and business experience on several continents enables him to support the Private Rhino Owners Association (PROA) members by achieving financial aid and investment support – this in order to alleviate the day to day security and management costs required to improve the conservation and population growth of rhino in South Africa.

He is also working on changing the international public opinion on the rhino situation in Africa and opening the social media dialogue with ‘fact based’ material, with the intention of presenting the current realities, as well as carrying out scientific and medical research on the uses of rhino horn.

Prof. Dr Cristea is the PROA representative to Asia, Europe and United States and acts as a financial and PR consultant to its members.
